Training Your Trainers to
Teach Business Writing

While your trainers probably will not have the background in grammar and usage a writing specialist has, they can easily learn the skills employees must know to structure clear, concise, professional e–mail, memos, letters, and reports. They can then train your employees. The Business Writing Center online training materials and PowerPoint presentations are exceptionally clear and complete. The trainers can learn to teach employees using them.

The Business Writing Center will train your trainers to teach employees writing skills in any of three procedures:

  1. A thorough training course that teaches the business writing skills to a mastery level that will allow a trainer to write training materials and deliver them as an expert in the business writing skills

  2. A training course that will teach the trainer how to train using one specific set of training materials, such as the materials in business writing, writing e-mail, writing reports, or writing letters

  3. A training course teaching the trainer how to deliver a one-day workshop in business writing skills using the PowerPoint presentation we provide

Training Trainers to Become Experts
in Business Writing Skills

Training Certificate

This training is in the BWC225 Explicit Business Writing with Additional Training course. It is a thorough, in-depth, competency-based course that teaches all the best practices that business-writing professionals now know create explicit e-mail, memos, letters, and reports. It is competency based, so it teaches the skills to a mastery level. The training is sufficiently thorough that graduates are able to edit others' work, writing training materials for self-paced training, or teach a workshop in business writing. As such, it is suitable for business people who want the highest level of business writing knowledge and competence, professors, and corporate trainers.

We know of no other training program in business writing that teaches these best practices and no other that teaches business writing skills to a mastery level of competence.

The course teaches trainees all of the skills presented in the book Explicit Business Writing: Best Practices for the Twenty-First Century. The author of the book is the trainer for this training. The trainers may choose to use the book in their training or develop training without using the book. Tuition is $595.

Training Trainers to Teach Using Business Writing Center Interactive, Online Course Materials

The Business Writing Center trains trainers in how to teach any of the Center's courses and provides a certificate at the end of the training. The trainers may then use the materials to train their trainees at a standard fee of $25 per trainee for access to the online training course materials. The training follows this process:

  1. We take the trainers through the same course the employees will be taking, pointing out what the trainers should look for and how to evaluate the trainees' writing.  The training materials are self-pacing, and the train-the-trainers course is self-pacing.
  2. After the trainers have graduated from the course, we give them sample trainee assignments for them to comment on. We evaluate the comments and coach them through writing explanations that will help the trainees learn the skills.
  3. We help the trainer set up their first set of trainees. We are available to evaluate the trainer's comments on trainee assignments and answer questions about the first training experience.
  4. After the training, we answer any questions the trainer has that come up in later training.

The trainer receives a certificate of competence in training the skills in the course. The train-the-trainers course number is BWC800. Tuition is $495.

We also will adjust any of the sets of training materials to fit your needs if you have a large number of trainees going through the materials.  We will customize the book as well for large groups of trainees.
