Using the Book in Colleges and Universities
The book, Explicit Business Writing: Best Practices for the Twenty-First Century is set up to be used for competency-based training such as that provided to students in colleges of business. It contains standards for explicit business writing and explanations of the best practices that attain the standards. It is sufficiently clear and detailed to be included as a self-guided training option within an existing course.

Discounts for volume purchases by a class of students are available.

Interactive Training Materials

The book is the basis for an online training program in explicit business writing that would fit into a business communication or business report writing course. If students are required to complete all of the exercises and competency examinations, the book and online materials would require the amount of work in a three-credit hour course.

Self-paced, Individualized Training

The book and online training materials make it possible for a college of business to offer the course to students without scheduled classroom times. Students might be required to follow a set pace, or could complete the course over more than one semester. The course could be taken during the summer from wherever in the world the students were.

Business Writing Center Training

The Business Writing Center can perform the training and certify competence in writing e-mail, memos, letters, and reports for students in a college of business. The fee for the service would be negotiated with the college of business. For more information, contact the Center director, R. Craig Hogan at r.craig.hogan@businesswriting.com.
